Kate, I think it was a different Jane. As much as I continued to read all of the comments and had a million things I wanted to add, I didn't comment. I actually thought your was the best "One Sentance Blog Post" because it is a tantalizing story in itself. Increadably creative. But I was so tired last week I didn't comment on anything. If the real Jane doesn't come forward I will be happy to accept the book on her behalf. And actually all of the books look good, I will take any you want to give me. Of course only if the real Jane doesn't step up.

I'm so bummed you didn't win! When I checked the stats Saturday morning just before 7:00 you were ahead! Oh well.....

Glad to have the waffle variation on that blender pancake recipe, I'll have to try it.

I also tried adding another egg to Mom's pancake recipe--yummy. It made them a lot lighter.

Woo-hoo! Thanks. I'll have to take a minute to look at the book choices again.

For now, even though the email in your story has probably long since been answered, I thought I'd pass along my favorite whole wheat pancake or waffle recipe. Best thing is, it uses the wheat itself, pre-flour form. This recipe came from a food storage booklet canneries used to have available. (Parenthetical notes are all mine.) We always have it in waffle form. Yum!

Blender wheat pancakes
makes 6 to 8 pancakes

1 cup milk -- or 1/3 non non-fat dry milk and 1 cup water
1 cup uncooked whole wheat (catch that? -- uncooked)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 Tablespoons honey or sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons oil

Put milk and wheat in blender. (If using powdered milk, mix thoroughly with liquid first, then add the wheat.) Blend on highest speed for four or five minutes or until batter is smooth. (Remove any little ones from the room -- This might be really loud!) Add and blend on low the eggs, oil, baking powder, honey/sugar and salt. Bake on hot griddle.

Variation: Waffles

Add one additional Tablespoon wheat
Increase oil to 4 Tablespoons (1/4 cup)
