Tracking a Mountain Lion
Posted on31. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
Late Thursday night my husband grabbed his farm coat and disappeared out the door without explanation. An hour later he returned and explained he thought he’d seen a car trying to spotlight deer on our dirt road. That didn’t make any sense because with all the snow you can’t turn your headlights off the road [...]

Laundry, My Writing Inspiration
Posted on29. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
Early Tuesday morning the power went out here for about an hour. My computer never regained consciousness. My miracle-working husband took it apart and reconnected it to his computer and recovered most of my files, but none of the children’s. Like my son’s iMovie History Fair project that was ready to be burned to a [...]

January Not Just For Snow Sports
Posted on25. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
Although January is great for sledding it’s also an optimal time to go back to school clothes shopping. At least that’s how I shop. I’m a clearance shopper and this season holds fantastic deals. Last year I bought my oldest’s pants for four dollars each. Earlier this year, one of my sister-in-laws was seeking on-line [...]

A Break
Posted on17. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
I’m grounding myself from the internet this week, no email or blogging. I need to get caught up on some housework. The first step is to separate the cream from the milk. These jars sat in the fridge for about twelve hours. During that time, the cream rose to the top.
I used [...]

Yellow Letters
Posted on06. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
“Look, Mom.” My five-year-old pointed off the snowy path leading from our house to the barn as we carried water to the chickens. A yellow line swirled in the otherwise pristine snow. “See, it’s a G.”
“Did you do that?”
“Yep. I followed the rules:

2009 Report and 2010 Goals
Posted on04. Jan, 2010 by Kate.
This year certainly went speeding by. I hope you all had time for some wintertime fun during your holidays.
So how did I do on last year’s goals?
Run a half marathon.
Didn’t accomplish. I’ve already blogged about that here.
Have a book accepted for publication.
I’ve submitted my manuscript to two publishers and probably won’t hear back before April–if [...]
