Thanks for everyone’s suggestions last week. I’d love to here from you again so leave your ideas in the comments.

I’m hoping to do better with preschool this week. I couldn’t find The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Monday. Or Tuesday. On Thursday the baby got sick and wouldn’t let me put him down. Ever. Yes, I must do better this week.

Theme:  Flags & Fourth of July

Daily
Practice putting cards with letters of name in order. Have name written on 3×5 card for 4yo to look at while he does it–later it will be used for a check at the end of ordering the cards.
Practice writing first name 3x on the white board.

Monday-Introduce Flag and Fourth of July Theme

Show pictures of flags. Talk about the colors and what the stars and stripes mean.
Give piece of 81/2 x 11 paper with rectangle penciled in upper left corner. Have 4yo paint small rectangle blue and paint red stripes on paper. (Could glue red yard instead of painting.)
Put star stickers on blue paint after it dries.

Tuesday-Art or Craft
Talk about what freedom means and that we celebrate it with fireworks.
Drop small blobs of different colored paint on black construction paper. Use drinking straw to blow paint to make fireworks.

Wednesday-Food
Make flag crackers.
Graham crackers, chocolate chips, red licorice, white frosting.

Thursday-Physical Activity
March in time to drums.

Friday-Scripture Story (Read & have children retell on flannel board)
The Brass Plates (Book of Mormon Stories Reader Chapter 4)

And yes, it’s that time of year again. The alarm is set for 3:30 AM.
