This year certainly went speeding by. I hope you all had time for some wintertime fun during your holidays.

So how did I do on last year’s goals?

  • Run a half marathon.

Didn’t accomplish. I’ve already blogged about that here.

  • Have a book accepted for publication.

I’ve submitted my manuscript to two publishers and probably won’t hear back before April–if I’m lucky. Probably more like June. I hesitated sending to these publishers at all knowing their track record for a long submission process. The deciding factor came when I realized the other three publishers I’m considering are two years out in their publishing schedule as well. Though they certainly accept or reject manuscripts in a more timely manner, I still wouldn’t see my book in print for another two years if accepted.

Deciding who to submit to first was a very difficult decision for me and one my husband is tired of hearing me whine about. So moving on:

  • Make nutritious yet tasty dinners within my budget.

I think I did fairly well with the nutritious part. There was rarely any one night where all seven mouths agreed it was all tasty. This goal will remain the same. It’s a lifelong pursuit as a wife and mother.

  • Nurture my children and spend time helping them with their goals.

I’ve learned I need to be softer and more patient. (I’ve gotta tell you that pain certainly shortens my patience.) That’s what I’ll be putting into practice this year. This, too is a lifelong goal that will remain on my sidebar.

Now for my 2010 goals:

  • Exercise five times a week. (Do physical therapy exercises 2x/day everyday.)

Usually I pick a race to train for, but the medical obstacles are mounting this year. If there appears to be a window of opportunity, I’ll update my sidebar with a race to run.

  • Write and polish another novel for submission next fall.
  • Write a middle grade novel. (rough draft)
  • Make nutritious yet tasty dinners within my budget.
  • Nurture my children and spend time helping them with their goals.
